3D Flight Tracker & Destination Guide
My Digital Experience team launched a reimagined inflight entertainment experience, bringing an interactive 3D flight tracker and destination guides to customers flying Southwest.
3D Flight Tracker
The new flight tracker provides an immersive view of your journey:
- Real-time flight information including ground speed, altitude, distance to go, and estimated arrival time
- Interactive 3D map with pinch-to-zoom and drag controls
- Flight progress visualization showing the path traveled and remaining route
- Cities with Southwest service displayed on the map with tap-to-explore functionality
The redesigned Flight Information screen organizes all the details customers want to see, including flight number, time at destination, and estimated arrival time.
Destination Guide
We also launched Destination Guides to help customers discover their arrival city:
- Curated playlists based on themes for each destination
- Points of interest rotating in destination teasers
- Social-style browsing with scroll and flick functionality
- Access to all Southwest destinations so customers can explore cities served
Design Improvements
Version 2 included several UX enhancements:
- Clarification around views unavailable below 10,000 feet
- Updated Map Menu button with clearer call-to-action
- State lines visible across multiple zoom levels
- Reduced aircraft icon size for better location precision
